RatZ is deeply inspired by Low, Diamond Dogs, Blackstar, Station2Station, Scary Monsters and David Bowie (Space Oddity). Ratz is a epithet chosen as a 'handle' or screen-name when on Bowie Net in 1999 - 2003. And in Maxradio.ca chatroom with good friends Ramoana and AMan (names also derived from Bowie songs) met in a queue for the 2000 Roselands show in New York.

Frank Zappa's legacy is unique and dramatic. His albums feature compositions of rock and jazz. His lyrics are often diabolically obscene humour (Dynamo Hun) and adventurously oblique (Sheik Yerbouti). One of his albums is a live concert called Just Another Band from LA featuring a 32 minute opus Billy the Mountain.
